Pansy_Pals_resized.JPG

Explore the basics of Watercolor through a live Zoom class.  Leave your fear and frustration behind; discover that watercolor can be enjoyable, satisfying, and inspiring (and that, contrary to popular belief, you can correct mistakes!)

Learn to mix and apply paint, blend colors, and create shading without the use of white paint. I will teach you exciting tricks and techniques; all in a non-stressful, fun environment. We’ll discuss choosing the right brushes, paint, and paper, how to save the white of the paper, and how to tear paper for a handsome edge.

You will create several finished paintings, while getting a good feel for a unique, marvelous, and very beautiful medium.

Taught by Renee Wrenwood, a prize winning local - McKinney, TX watercolorist and art instructor. She loves the medium is happiest with a loaded brush in her hand.

Cost: $135 / 6 weeks

Ages: Adult and serious teens

Location: Zoom meeting    For the best the best results, it is recommended that you use a computer rather than a tablet or phone for the class. For those unfamiliar with Zoom, we’ll have a “learn about Zoom session” where I’ll walk you through how to do Zoom and make sure that you can get on. Just let me know if you‘re interested, and we can schedule a time.

Adventure Seekers Workshop

This school year, travel the world through ART every 2nd Sunday of the month. This workshop series is designed for the daring at heart. Leap into an extraordinary creative journey as we experience the cultures of exotic, far-off places and people of long ago.

Encounter remarkable regions through a hands-on art experience. We will make art inspired by cultures from regions such as Africa, Northeast and Southeast Asia and parts of India. Dive into the ancient lives of Egyptians and the people who first inhabited the Americas.

Our focus will be on instruction that allows for experimentation with a variety of art materials in order to foster a personal sense of knowledge and respect for cultures around the globe.

Each month, students will be guided through lessons in watercolor and acrylic painting, sculpture with clay and other materials, plaster, ink, yarn, mixed media and much more. Travel, encounter and experiment with us as we go on an artistic quest throughout the world.

Date: Sept 12th
In honor of National Hispanic-Latino Heritage Month, we will do  an ancient Mayan inspired project and a Mexican Metepec Sun project.

Classes are designed to introduce new students to the skills required to accurately render what they see and for the more advanced artist to gain some visual and creative practice in drawing and painting that will enhance any artistic endeavors. The class objective is to provide the "tools" necessary to draw and paint with confidence and to develop within the student the ability to see the world the way artists' see. From there, assignments lead the student to express their own individual creativity.
Supply needs for the class will vary according to the individual students' curriculum needs. Adults will provide their own supplies as needed for working in class and at home. Tuition for the full month is due at the first class of each month. Arrangements for missed classes are easily made up but are the student's responsibility to schedule.

Class size is limited so contact Cate today to secure your place.

Classes are Open Studio

Each student does individual work based upon their interest and Cate “coaches”.

Color Theory and Drawing assignments available.
