This class focuses on strengthening students' drawing skills and enhancing their artistic styles and creativity through colored pencil. All art styles and skill levels are welcome. Beginner Level students will learn the basic techniques of colored pencil art including initial sketching, layering, blending and building colors, and interpreting colors from a reference photo to express your inner artistic voice. Intermediate/Advanced Level students will hone these skills and learn the art of creating texture and details.

This class is for children's 10+. It focuses on strengthening students drawing and painting skills as well as enhancing their artistic styles and creativity through variety of art media like acrylics, watercolors, oil and chalk pastels, color pencils. All art skill levels are welcome - no experience necessary. The student will complete several fun projects throughout the semester that will develop and improve his or her drawing and painting skills.
 
**Students will need to bring some supplies, but others will be provided by the teacher.
The supplies needed to be purchased by students: oil pastels, chalk pastels, watercolors, colored pencils.
You can contact me to ask where to get cost-effective supplies.
 
*The tuition for the full month is due at the first class of each month. Missed classes can be made up upon request.

A great course to develop and strengthen drawing skills, fine tune your eye and thematic vision. Professional grade materials are provided in the cost of the course. A variety of materials and mark making tools will be used. As a bonus students will have the use of an etching press during select projects. Students have and will continue to participate in International art exchanges. Class size is small.

Bring your painting ideas, or just your desire to paint in watercolor. Students will work on paintings of their choice, with guidance and gentle critique from Ms. Wrenwood.

Learn techniques to achieve your goals for your painting. Get suggestions on design/composition and focal point. Discover ways to fix a mistake or save a “ruined” painting. Loosen up and try new methods of painting.  Have fun with watercolor!

This ongoing class will encourage the creative spirit in artists of all skill levels.

Here we will learn how to throw on the pottery wheel mugs, bowls, and other functional art pieces along with creating art pieces using hand building techniques. We will use our hands and maybe (probably) even get a little messy! This is a come and go class that you have a choice of hours.

Come learn the joys of mosaic art! Students will learn about design fundamentals, substrates, how to cut glass, and how to grout. This is an on-going class; students begin at the beginning of each month, and complete their first project within a month, but many stay and take the class on an on-going basis, building skills and developing abilities. Have you ever wanted to try drawing and/or painting or do you have experience but would like to take your artwork to the next level? Meet with Cate Robbins for individualized art instruction in small group studio settings. This is a general study in painting and drawing that includes composition and techniques in a variety of mediums. Instruction is based upon each student's age, skill level, and goals. 
Classes are designed to introduce new students to the skills required to accurately render what they see and for the more advanced artist to gain some visual and creative practice in drawing and painting that will enhance any artistic endeavors. The class objective is to provide the "tools" necessary to draw and paint with confidence and to develop within the student the ability to see the world the way artists' see. From there, assignments lead the student to express their own individual creativity.
Supply needs for the class will vary according to the individual students' curriculum needs. Adults will provide their own supplies as needed for working in class and at home. Tuition for the full month is due at the first class of each month. Arrangements for missed classes are easily made up but are the student's responsibility to schedule.

If your child likes drawing and painting this class is for him/her. The child will complete several fun projects throughout the semester that will develop and improve his drawing and painting skills. We will work with several different media throughout the course including acrylics, water color paints, oils and chalk pastels, color pencils, and air dry clay. The class will teach different art techniques, all in an encouraging, fun environment while giving your child joy and satisfaction of completing exciting projects. This class offers the student opportunities to create functional dinnerware, mugs, trays, and bowls as well as beautiful pieces of sculptural art. Students will receive instruction in forming clay by hand or by using a potter's wheel or molds. The possibilities are endless! Instruction is also given in all aspects of glazing as well as special firing techniques including raku, horsehair, and sagger. Whatever you decide to make, you will love working with clay!  Explore the basics of Watercolor: choosing the right brushes, paint and paper, mixing and applying paint, correcting mistakes, and saving the white of the paper. Experiment with exciting tricks and techniques; all in a non-stressful, fun environment. Students will create several finished paintings, while getting a good feel for a unique, enjoyable, and very beautiful medium. This class will run concurrently with the intermediate class.
Taught by Renee F. Wrenwood, a prize winning local watercolorist and art instructor. She loves the medium and is happiest with a loaded brush in her hand.

Art Teacher, Magda Dia, believes everyone's an artist and her classes encourage students to find their own unique artist voice through a variety of mediums; painting, clay, pottery wheel, and more. By encouraging and focusing on kindness, non-judgment and doing one's best; a space opens up for children to safely engage and blossom into their own selves. Each month Magda leads a walking field trip into historic Downtown McKinney for enjoying ice cream, decorating edible art (cookies and cakes) and outdoor fun.
