Policies and FAQs:

Registration

When you register, I will need your full name, phone number -where you can be reached by voice or text, and your email address.  I will use emails and texts to communicate. Adults, age 16+

Deposit

The $180 deposit paid at registration guarantees your spot in the class.  In order to receive a refund of your deposit, a minimum of a 4 weeks notice prior to your last class.

Tuition

Tuition is due by the first class each month.

I prefer Zelle, cash or check; my Zelle address is mrspottsplace2015@gmail.com

Tuition covers instruction, use of studio tools, equipment, and glazes, firing for 12 pieces and a $20 monthly supply fee which is used to maintain kilns and purchase ceramic glazes.

Tuition is prorated to reflect the number of lessons in that month:   4 lessons = $180

3 lessons = $140

5 lessons = $220

Students can purchase clay from the instructor or from a ceramic supply store - please speak to the instructor before buying clay from an outside source.

If you have more than 12 pieces to fire in a month there will be a additional firing fee.

For pots larger than 150 cubic inches, an oversize fee will be assessed based on the cubic inches of your piece.

What if I miss a class?

If you must miss a class, I can schedule a make-up class outside of your regular class time.

***You must make arrangements in advance for a make-up to ensure there is room for you.

Class Calendar

Classes run year-round with time off given for major holidays.  In case of a last minute class cancellation (i.e., due to weather), I will try to communicate at least 1 hour before class starts via text.  If you are traveling a long distance to class, please use your best judgement and do not travel if it seems unsafe to do so.  In these cases where class is missed, you can schedule a make-up.  In cases where I must cancel class, you will receive a credit toward your next month’s tuition.

What Should I Bring?  What Should I Wear?

Just bring yourself, we have all the tools and equipment you will need. You are going to get dirty - muddy even.  Please wear clothes and shoes that are comfortable and that you don’t mind getting dirty, possibly even stained.  The clay should not stain, but some dark clays, stains, and glazes may stain clothing permanently.

THANKS FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING AND FLEXIBILITY AND FOR MAKING THE MCKINNEY ART HOUSE SO UNIQUE AND SPECIAL. Lisa LaBarge, 214-856-0375
